Runpod alternative: whole GPUs at a flat monthly price

Runpod is built for usage-based GPU access, from Pods to serverless workers. If your GPUs run most of the month, a dedicated server at a fixed monthly price can be the simpler fit. Here is an honest comparison.

Choose FullGPU if…

  • Your GPUs run most of the month and you want one flat, predictable bill.
  • You want a full server or VM with root access, not a managed container.
  • You want the same GPU and local NVMe all month, with no credit balance to top up.
  • You want a written delivery date and a 99.9% SLA with credits on every plan.

Choose Runpod if…

  • You run short or bursty jobs and want per-second billing with no commitment.
  • You want serverless inference workers that scale to zero between requests.
  • You want to start and stop GPUs from code through an API, CLI or SDK.

If you are looking for a Runpod alternative, your workload has probably settled into a pattern: a model that serves traffic all day, a fine-tuning pipeline that rarely stops, or a team that needs a fixed GPU budget. Runpod is built around usage-based access, with per-second Pods and serverless workers that you start and stop as needed. This page compares both approaches as of October 2026, so you can tell which one fits your work.

Why teams look for a Runpod alternative

Usage billing is ideal while your needs are uncertain. Once a GPU runs most hours of the month, the meter mostly measures time you would pay for anyway, and the details start to matter. Runpod Pods draw on prepaid credits: you need at least an hour's worth to deploy, and if the balance runs out, running Pods are stopped and Pods without a network volume are terminated with their data. Volume disks and network volumes keep billing while a Pod is stopped, and stopping a Pod releases its GPU to other users, so the same GPU may not be free when you restart.

Runpod also shares two strengths with us: it charges no fees for data ingress or egress, and it accepts crypto. The differences lie elsewhere: in the billing model, in what you control on the machine, and in the commitments written into the contract.

Runpod details come from its public website and documentation in October 2026 and can change, so check their current terms before you decide.

Pods, Serverless or a dedicated server

A Pod runs your workload in its own container, with exclusive use of its GPU while it runs. Runpod runs Docker for you, so you cannot start your own Docker daemon or use Docker Compose inside a Pod, and Pods accept TCP and HTTP connections but not UDP. Serverless goes further: workers are billed per second from start to stop, flex workers scale to zero between requests, and active workers stay on around the clock.

A FullGPU server is a different unit: a bare-metal 8-GPU machine, or a dedicated VM with a whole GPU passed through, that stays yours for the month. You get root over SSH on Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 with NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit preinstalled, so you can run Docker Compose, system services or anything else our acceptable use policy allows. Local NVMe keeps your models, datasets and checkpoints between jobs, your model stays loaded in GPU memory, and nothing else runs on the card.

When Runpod is the better choice

  • You run short or bursty jobs and want to pay by the second, with no commitment.
  • You serve inference with spiky traffic and want serverless workers that scale to zero.
  • You want to start and stop GPUs from code, with Runpod's REST API, CLI and Python SDK.
  • You want self-serve multi-node clusters, or a GPU model outside our catalog, such as the RTX 4090.

What FullGPU includes, and what it does not

Every plan has a flat monthly price with no setup fee, and the per-GPU-hour equivalent is published on our pricing page, so you can compare it with any hourly rate. Bandwidth is included with no egress fees, 20 TB per month on single-GPU servers and 50 TB on 8-GPU servers, under fair use. We commit to 99.9% monthly availability with service credits under our SLA, engineers answer 24/7, and you pay by card or crypto at the same USD price, with the same invoice. Your delivery date is confirmed in writing before you pay; if we miss it, you can cancel for a full refund.

We do not offer per-second billing, serverless endpoints or spot capacity. Instead of a credit balance, you pay each month in advance. Servers are ordered through a request handled by our team: we confirm the configuration, price, location and delivery date, send a payment link, and email your credentials. The minimum term is one month, and you can cancel any month with no fee.

Moving a workload from Runpod

  1. Size the GPU with the VRAM calculator and check the break-even with the GPU cost calculator.
  2. Send a request; we confirm the configuration, price and delivery date in writing.
  3. Pull the same container images: Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit are already installed, as our Docker guide shows.
  4. Copy models and datasets to local NVMe, run both setups in parallel for a few days, then switch traffic. We do not back up local storage, so keep copies of anything you cannot recreate.

Frequently asked questions

Is FullGPU a good Runpod alternative for always-on inference?

Yes, if your model serves traffic most hours of the month. You pay one flat monthly price per server for whole dedicated GPUs, with bandwidth included and a 99.9% availability SLA with service credits.

Does FullGPU bill per second like Runpod?

No. We bill a flat monthly price per server, in advance, with a one-month minimum and no cancellation fee. For jobs that run only a few hours at a time, per-second billing usually costs less.

Can I run my Runpod container images on FullGPU?

Yes. Our Ubuntu images come with NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit preinstalled, and with root access you can also use Docker Compose or system services.

Are FullGPU GPUs shared with other customers?

No. Each GPU is a whole physical GPU assigned to one customer, with no vGPU, MIG or time-sharing. 8-GPU servers are bare metal, and single-GPU plans are a dedicated VM with the full GPU passed through.

Can I pay with crypto?

Yes. We accept Bitcoin (on-chain and Lightning), Ethereum, USDT, USDC and Litecoin, as well as Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Prices are in USD, the crypto rate is locked at checkout, and the invoice is the same whatever the method.
